Sweet Spot At The G Spot

Grossinger’s Resort.

Grossinger’s is renowned for a variety of reasons, not least of which being for the celebrities who regularly stayed there. Among its celebrity guests were Eddie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor. Just about any superlative could have been used to describe this famous resort in it’s heyday. Having opened in 1919, Grossinger’s was at it’s peak in the fifties serving nearly 150,000 guests per year.

Today the resort is in an advanced state of ruin. The indoor pool area, with it’s hefty wood beams and supports, is truly stunning. A carpet of moss covers much of the tiled deck in spite of it having been frigid enough to freeze the remaining water in the pool.

  1. Excellent post. I’m impressed, especially with your photos :) I love this kind of stuff, and always enjoy finding GOOD abandonment photography. Thank you and good luck.

  2. Among the best shots I’ve seen from this place! To bad it’s so rapidly deteriorating. I’ve been wanting to go for a long time.

  3. Your picture seam to catch the essence of place and time not only of the past but also present. These sites should be treated as cherished relics of a time past…..
